Audrey grew up and went to school in Wynyard. She attended Teacher’s College in Saskatoon, taught for two years (one year at a one-room country school – such a wonderful experience), married her high school sweetheart and moved to Saskatoon. They have three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren (one more on the way in October.) Her husband, Dave, was transferred briefly to Brandon, Manitoba and then to Regina where they lived from 1975 to 1992. They always returned to Wynyard from time to time over the years to enjoy many functions. Then when early retirement from his company was looming they decided to move back home to Wynyard. They made the decision to give back to their community as much as they could through volunteer work.
In addition to their volunteer work outside the museum, Audrey and her husband were first on the original museum committee and are so proud of the new building and displays. At the front of the museum is the ‘Sleipnir Thrift Store’, run by the Hospital Auxiliary, which raises much needed money for the local hospital.
